KS Bedrift – Norway

Most municipalities have taken measures to avoid contamination among garbage collectors, such as raised hygiene in trucks and clothing protection. Coffee and lunch breaks of employees must be taken separately, or with just a few persons. General hygienic precautions apply to all, while waste that would be considered contagious in a normal situation, is to be considered contagious now as well.

Citizens are encouraged to avoid household waste recycling centres, to clean handles on the bins, to separate waste carefully and to keep sorted waste at home if possible, as municipalities may need to prioritize the collection of residual and food waste.

In Norway, the waste sector is considered a “critical sector” regarding environmental issues. This gives priority to access, for example, childcare services in extraordinary situations.
