SGI Europe invites you to join the final conference of the Finance4EPSR project, which will be hosted at The Cardo Brussels Hotel, located at Avenue du Boulevard 14, 1210 Brussels, Belgium. Thanks to a fully hybrid set-up, participants will be able to join the event either in Brussels or remotely. Please indicate your preferred mode of participation in the registration form.
The event is confirmed to take place on Wednesday, 11 June 2025, from 12:30 to 16:30 (CEST). A networking lunch and a coffee break will be provided on-site for all in-person participants.
The event will bring together EU policymakers, SGI providers, social partners, and key actors from the sustainable finance community. It will be an opportunity to exchange perspectives on how social objectives can be better reflected in financial frameworks — and how SGI enterprises can lead the way.
Among the confirmed speakers are Brigitte Fellahi-Brognaux from DG EMPL, Nancy Saich from the European Investment Bank and Antje Schneeweiss, former Rapporteur of the Social Taxonomy and lead on the Social Investment Framework.

On 27-28 May, SGI Europe participated in the capacity-building seminar “Reinforcing the European Social Dialogue and Industrial Relations” in Zagreb, Croatia. Organised by the European social partners (ETUC, BusinessEurope, SGI Europe, and SMEunited), this seminar brought together national social partners from Croatia, the Netherlands, Slovenia, and Sweden to exchange views on the state of social dialogue in their respective national contexts and across Europe.
These seminars aim to increase knowledge and capacity of social dialogue and collective bargaining at the national and European level. Over two half-day sessions, social partners discussed the needs and avenues for strengthening the future of social dialogue and collective bargaining in their national context and across Europe.
Here, the European social partners also presented the current state of play, the latest results, and actions from the European Dialogue. Participants discussed the outcomes of the European social dialogue as a means to influence policy and political debates, aligning with the priorities of both employers and trade unions, as well as labour market needs.

On Tuesday 27 May 2025, SGI Europe General Secretary, Valeria Ronzitti, met with MEP Idoia Mendia (S&D, ES). MEP Mendia is a member of the EMPL committee of the European Parliament, but also one of the vice-chairs of the Intergroup on social economy and services of general interest. This meeting provided an opportunity to follow up on the discussions held during the Intergroup event on the revision of public procurement directives, which took place on 13 May 2025 at the European Parliament.
The meeting was also an opportunity to exchange views on the goals and objectives of the intergroup on Social Economy and SGIs, starting with the next event to be organised in this context, focusing on the Freedom to Stay, in connection with the Multiannual Financial Framework and the future of EU cohesion policy.
In her capacity as a member of the European Parliament's EMPL Committee, MEP Idoia Mendia is also interested in European social dialogue and the current activities of SGI Europe, one of the cross-sectoral social partners at the EU level. The Union of Skills dossier was discussed, along with housing and silver economy-related issues. The care and healthcare sector is also a key concern for MEP Mendia, as it is for SGI Europe and its members.
This was an excellent opportunity to see how SGI Europe can build upon the relationship established through the Intergroup with the MEPs on issues central to SGI Europe's work.

On 27 May, the European Commission published its updated EU Urban Mobility Observatory Database in the context of the realisation of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans (SUMPs). The updated EU city database on SUMPs is an information repository for sustainable mobility and urban planning for each Member State and their registered metropoles. The complete lists can be observed here. This list provides information on the 431 urban nodes on the trans-European transport network (TEN-T network) and other EU cities with a population above 50,000 that are at different stages of SUMP development.
The database provides national policy makers, city planners, as well as researchers with insightful information for future mobility plans. Key information includes, for example, the SUMP's status and the number of inhabitants for each urban node with direct weblinks to the cities. All information has been publicly obtained from official sources such as Eurostat, national population databases and local and regional databases on urban mobility plans.
SGI Europe considers it essential to pave the way for sustainable mobility in both railway and public transport, facilitating a successful modal shift in the mobility sector that will help the EU reach its climate targets and meet the new EU competitiveness ambitions. This also means cooperating and exchanging with local and regional authorities, cities and transport operators. In the implementation process of the TEN-T, conditions must be met to follow a “green logistics concept”. With such readily available data, the EU provides more visibility and facilitates better knowledge sharing, which is necessary for the transition. The updated database is a very helpful tool for cities, regions and mobility operators to realise the ambitions set at the EU and national level.
