4 December 2025
On Thursday 4 December 2025, the European Commission presented its Quality Jobs Roadmap, which aims to strengthen Europe’s competitiveness, social cohesion and the freedom to stay while ensuring that workers and employers can adapt to the current economic, technological and demographic transitions.
Commenting on the proposals, Valeria Ronzitti, General Secretary, said:
“SGI Europe welcomes the publication of the Quality Jobs Roadmap and its intention to better link competitiveness, fairness and workforce resilience. We particularly value the strong focus on skills, building on last week’s proposal for a Council recommendation on human capital, which is essential to addressing shortages across essential services and supporting Europe’s long-term productivity.”
“The Communication rightly recognises the structural challenges faced by employers delivering services of general interest, from around-the-clock operations to demographic pressures and rising expectations on accessibility and quality. Strengthening capacities, anticipating change and expanding opportunities for up- and reskilling will be vital to ensure attractive and sustainable careers in these key sectors.”
“SGI Europe will respond to the first stage consultation of social partners on a Quality Jobs Act and will anchor its messages in subsidiarity and proportionality. It will be crucial for the QJA to support Employers delivering SGIs and ensure that the conditions are met for quality jobs and continuous delivery of quality services to reinforce each other mutually.”
