The activities of the Transport Task Force include railways, urban and city infrastructures, water transport and the promotion of soft modes of transportation. The Task Force gathers the whole range of different stakeholders in the field of transport, including transnational companies, local enterprises, associations and authorities.
The aim of the Task Force is to find the right balance between the different modes of transportation and be the driving force to decarbonise the economy and create a sustainable societal model. Achieving the EU Green Deal objective and its carbon-neutrality by 2050 is a dual challenge: decarbonising the economy and follow a digital path. This calls for public transport to be at the centre of the discussion to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the mobility sector.
Facilitating this vision, there is a need for an ambitious and fair digital development of the transport sector calling for the right investments. The solution lies in the expansion of combined transportation modes, and by setting clear rules for all providers of smart multimodal transport services to create an environmentally friendly alternative to private motorised transport.
