Publication of calls for tenders for two new SGI Europe projects

SGI Europe is starting two new projects funded by the European Commission: "Green Skills in VET" and "Involving SGIs in the European Semester". In that context, the following calls for tenders have been published on Monday 1 March 2021.

Green Skills in VET

Following the policy agenda set by the European Commission, SGI Europe and the European Federation of Education Employers (EFEE) wish to address the biggest transformation that all EU stakeholders are facing at the moment, the green transition.

SGI Europe and EFEE will therefore combine their respective expertise as public service providers and education providers respectively, and undertake a research into current and future skills and training needs of employers of 3 key public services which would be affected by the development of the resource efficient and green economy: water, transport and energy. This project will be supported by funding from the European Commission’s DG Employment.

In the 2 years of activity the project will target six Member States – the Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, France, Germany and Spain – where SGI Europe and EFEE will work with project partners from their membership networks. The specific objectives of this project include:

• Identifying the current/future demands for skills/jobs in key public services and SGIs sectors as well as the single out of any mismatch between skills needs and learning provision.
• The continuous professional development of teaching and training staff to coincide with the new green skills for achieving the targets set by the European Green Deal.
• Designing of solutions for enterprises, and education providers – for adapting skills delivery in the context of a framework of collaboration between education and public services’ providers.

In this framework, SGI Europe and the project partners express their intention to select external expertise to carry out a series of activities within the “Green Skills in VET” project. The calls for tenders including the specifications and details of the selection procedure are available below:

Involving SGIs in the European Semester

The EU cross-sectoral social partner SGI Europe, together with its project partners, the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), the Union of Social and Solidarity Economy Employers (UDES), and the Union of Social Profit Companies (UNISOC), have undertaken to conduct a project on the involvement of Services of General Interest in the European Semester. This project will be supported by funding from the European Commission’s DG Employment.

In the 2 years of activity of this project, SGI Europe and the three project partners, intend to actively design tools and methods of consultations, and to increase the quality of the input for the European Semester from the providers of services of general interests and public services employers. The specific objectives of this project include:

• Reinforcing participation of SGIs in the Semester process through the identification, appointment and training of National Semester Contact Points.
• Producing a methodology that will aim at making SGIs input more timely, structured, and relevant to the different milestones of the European Semester.
• Improving SGIs contribution to the European Semester and highlighting the relevance for SGI Europe members to implement the principles of the Pillar of Social Rights close to their sectoral activities.
